Subject:Help translating a phrase: オールドミスバク進中の御局候補よ

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting here, so I hope I'm not doing anything wrong. If I did, please let me know so I can fix it.

I decided to ask for your help, 'cause I've run into some trouble translating stuff for work, and I need a bit of help to get out of the problem.

I'm translating an adult manga (not by choice, believe me...). I've just started chapter two, which is about a new boss coming to the section of the office where the main chapter works. She's a bossy lady who is putting their world upside down and who yells at everyone, but this is a highly sexual manga, so they all consider her also very sexy and whatnot.

The thing is, after the first day of working with the new lady, all the office staff went together for a drink and started badmouthing the new boss. Then, the following dialogue takes place:

Woman 1: あんな上司嫌ね☆☆
Woman 2: 美人だれどかわいげなくて彼氏いないタイプ☆
Woman 3: オールドミスバク進中の御局候補よ

As the title of this post says, I'm having trouble with the phrase the last of the 3 women say. I get the "old miss" thing, but the rest... The "バク進中の御局候補" is what I don't get. o.o

According to a dictionary, 御局 【おつぼね】 means "dignified lady-in-waiting who had her own private chamber or office at court or in the shogun's castle" and 候補 【こうほ】 means "candidate; contender; prospect; pick; choice; list; candidacy; candidature; nomination". So that leaves me with trying to find out what the heck does バク進中 mean. I've searched all the dictionaries I know of and none of them has shed any light on the matter. When I googled it, I found some blogs mentioning the phrase and also a book for sale in Amazon, called "OL街道バク進中", but nothing that would point out what does the word MEAN and how could I translate it into this context and phrase.

So, if any of you can help me come up with a translation for this phrase, I'd be more than grateful.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and help.

The sentence sounds like:

オールドミス爆進中の御局候補よ。

オールドミス = old miss (an 'old' woman who has never been married)
御局 = an older office lady who is like a 'queen bee' -- thus the term 'o-tsubone.' Dominant and fussy. You know the type...
爆進 = heading toward (with force!)

Also, the second sentence must be "... 彼氏いないタイプ"

Ohhh, I see, I see. I had never seen the word 爆進 nor found it in any dictionary. :O How is it read? "Bakushin"? :o

So the phrase could be translated into something like "She's a candidate for being a lonely old lady, bossing all the time"? It's a really loose interpretation of the literal meaning of the words, but I can't think of another way of putting it that would be more accurate and yet sound informal and, you know, part of a conversation between co-workers. :P Specially considering that this is an "adaptation" to English, cause I actually need to translate this into Spanish. ^^U

As for the second phrase, indeed. That typo was mine. xD Since I'm using scans to translate, I typed the dialogues directly and I made that little typo. Thanks for pointing it out. :) It's fixed now.

Anyways, thank you so much for your reply. :)

"爆" means "explosion.' And we make up words with "爆" all the time. Some of the most common examples are: 爆笑(bakushou = laugh really hard), 爆死 (death by explosion, often used as 'did something to give oneself a big trouble' or something like that.) So, 爆進 (bakushin, means something like 'to go straight to...' or 'rush to...' or something.
